CGI vs Video for Hazard Perception Clips: What's the Outcome?

A report commissioned by DVSA and researched by TRL has recently been published, validating the use of CGI clips for hazard perception testing. The findings are significant — but there is important additional context to consider.

The CGI Advantage Beyond Validation

Whilst the report validates CGI clips, it is worth noting that since CGI replaced video in 2015, other factors have changed. Video technology has improved — but what has become more challenging is creating clips safely and at acceptable cost. Producing video clips has become more expensive, and if you want clips for different weather conditions, night-time driving, poor visibility, motorway driving, or scenes involving animals and vulnerable road users, these can become increasingly challenging — and sometimes impossible — using video.

What CGI Enables

With CGI, the only limitation is your imagination. You can create any scenario, in any environment, at any time of day or night, in any weather condition — consistently, safely and cost-effectively. This is why CGI has become the global standard for hazard perception content, and why Jellylearn has been at the forefront of this field since 2012.
